El día lunes 28 de marzo, de 14:00 a 17:00 horas, se realizará el taller breve “Funeral rites in the Vedic religion: the Paippalāda vs. Śaunaka rituals”, a cargo del Dr. Roland Pooth (Senior Research Fellow en EVALISA, Universidad de Gante) Invita: Proyecto FONDECYT Regular Nº1210321 con cooperación internacional.

Funeral rites in the Vedic religion: the Paippalāda vs. Śaunaka rituals
This workshop presents the funeral chants of the Atharvaveda (Bhattacharya 2011, Whitney 1905). After an introduction into the relevant Vedic religious texts, we discuss a special funerary ritual of the Paippalāda School and compare it to the rites of the Śaunaka School.

Bio
Dr. Roland Pooth is an Indo-European linguist with an expertise in Vedic Sanskrit, General Linguistics, and Linguistic Typology. He received his MA from the University of Cologne (Germany) and his PhD from Leiden University (The Netherlands). As Senior Research Fellow at Ghent University (Belgium), he has published several articles on Vedic Sanskrit and Indo-European.
