Using a hemispheric lens, Constanza Contreras offers a look into how authors from corners as far away as poetry and anthropology, from times as early as the beginnings of the 20th century to the present, and across nation state borders in the Americas, have and continue to negotiate what indigenous, Latino, mestizo and native may look, sound and feel like, all of these always in a non-discrete, relational manner across the continent.
Constanza Contreras is a PhD candidate in the English Department at the University of Michigan. She got her B.A. in Letras Inglas from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and her M.A. from the University of Michigan. A poet and illustrator, her poetry has appeared in Resistance Baclú and was recently featured in the anthology The Breakbeat Poets Vol. 4: LatiNEXT.
